My last Technology Integration Partnership, or TIP, occurred at Haigh. Teachers Anne Joachim (3rd grade) and Erika Izbicki (4th grade) very graciously agreed to share their classrooms with me so that we could work together to infuse their classes with some new technology integration. Since both teachers are tech-savvy to begin with, we dove right in!

In Anne Joachim’s third grade classroom, students are busy blogging on StudentSites. One blogging topic they have

explored is BookSnaps. Students “snap” a picture of an image in their story and write about it. In this case, students are discussing fables, and how the moral of the fable is connected to the image. They are also using their blogs to showcase their science experiments. Currently, they are building bridges and testing their strength, then video recording their findings and posting about it on their blogs.
Down the hall, Erika Izbicki’s fourth graders are working on informational writing. Mrs. Izbicki has chosen to use Moodle’s Workshop module for this writing unit. First, the students write their rough draft in Moodle (iLearn), using the rubric provided as a guideline for good writing. Next, they are randomly assigned 2 peers’ papers, as well as their own. They then use the rubric provided to grade the papers, but most importantly they provide a piece of actionable feedback. (For more about actionable feedback, view our previous blog post.)
